Thoughts and How They Interact With Beliefs
A Thought that You Accept With
Question Can Make a Belief Stronger
If you accept thoughts that
enter your mind without question they can add to the beliefs that you
already have. The more you learn about this the easier it will be to
stop this from happening
There are three types of
interactions between your thoughts and beliefs. A thought can be accepted and can
make your belief stronger. A thought can also be
ignored and your belief remains unchanged.
A thought can also be contested or rejected
by you and this can make your belief smaller and less powerful.
A thought may be accepted
without question with no involvement on the part of your directed
consciousness or "thought spotlight". The thought you have would
almost instantly compared to your existing beliefs.
Once a similar idea within an
existing belief was found then that thought would be accepted as fact.
The thought may also be added to the collection of ideas that make up the
matching belief, and make your belief larger than it previously was.
Review the
diagram below to help you understand this properly. Remember that
this is only a example and may not relate to your own thoughts or beliefs.

The top left of the diagram
shows an example of a thought that entered this person's mind and was
triggered by an experience they had. That thought was triggered by
someone else they had seen and considered to be overweight.
On the top right of the
diagram is a belief that this person already has about their own weight.
Their belief has two ideas that relate to it. "I am overweight" and
"I will never be thin".
The large circle in the
bottom left represents their conscious mind and within it how this thought
and that belief interacted. This person accepted that thought and
added one more idea to their belief.
The thought was accepted
without question because they did not consciously attempt to reject it or
ignore it. They did not use their directed consciousness or thought
spotlight to examine or contest it.
They identified with this
person and as a result, the belief about being overweight become larger
and stronger. This is represented as the new larger belief in the
lower right of the diagram.
That one thought had the
effect of adding to their belief and unfortunately it was a negative
belief that they already had. It didn't have to be this way if they
had used their ability to direct their thoughts.
Thoughts and beliefs can control you or you
can learn how to understand and control them. It is
...
always
your choice
