Contested
Thoughts and How They Interact With Beliefs
Learning How to Reject a
Thought That You Don't Want is Important to Changing Your Beliefs
A negative thought may enter
your mind but you have a choice. If you can decide to reject that
thought then you have a tool that can help you succeed.
There are three types of
interactions between your thoughts and beliefs. A thought can be contested
or rejected by you and this can make your belief smaller and less
powerful. A thought can also be
ignored and your belief remains unchanged.
A thought can be accepted and can make
your belief stronger.
A thought that is contested
means that is rejected by your directed consciousness. You
simply decide to consciously say NO or think that "this is not true and I
choose to think otherwise".
This is one of the most
powerful tools you have to change your beliefs but you must use your
directed consciousness or thought spotlight to to do this.
The
diagram below can help you to understand this more easily. Remember
that this is only a example and may not relate to your own thoughts or beliefs.

The top left of the diagram
shows an example of a thought that entered this person's mind that was
either random or triggered. The thought was "I can become as
wealthy as I want to be".
On the top right of the
diagram is a belief that this person already has about wealth.
Their belief has four ideas attached to it. "I am poor",
"I will never be rich", "Rich people are greedy" and
"I am not greedy".
The large circle in the
bottom left represents their conscious mind and within it how this thought
and that belief interacted. This person consciously decided to
reject or contest that thought.
Their belief about wealth
included several ideas but only one was targeted. If they kept
consciously directing their thought that "I can become rich", then
one of the ideas about their belief would change.
The previous idea that "I
will never be rich" will in time become weaker and disappear.
The lower box on the right in the diagram above representing beliefs changed
because the ideas that made up that belief changed.
The other ideas that make up
that belief still need to be addressed but this is a good start.
Using the same example, this is what could happen next. Review the
next diagram below and notice the changes that have taken place.

This time the ideas related
to that belief were contested again because their thought spotlight was
again active. The idea that "rich people are greedy" was removed".
They used their directed thoughts to remove that idea from their belief.
The belief about not having
wealth became smaller as each idea within it was contested or rejected.
Negative beliefs like this can be removed or replaced with others.
If you continue to contest
negative thoughts that you have then they will change the beliefs that you
have.
Thoughts and beliefs can control you or you
can learn how to understand and control them. It is
...
always
your choice
