Learning to Relax is Important to Your Success

"A Relaxed Mind is an Open Mind"

Many success strategies tell you that being able to be relax your body and your mind is important.  Why is this important and what's the easiest way for you to learn?

Included in many success programs are techniques to help you relax both your body and mind.  And the reason why is that if you can enter a fully relaxed state you will be able to receive positive messages about your success more easily.

When your body is relaxed your heart rate and breathing slow down and your muscles become less tense.  Your brain also experiences changes in the electrical impulses that it generates.  They are measured by your brainwave activity and these slow down the more relaxed your mind becomes.

You enter a state in which you are more susceptible to suggestion.  This is the best time to receive success messages and there are several different ways to do this.

The Difference Between Relaxing and Recreation

What do you think of when you are asked to relax?  Sitting in front of the television watching your favourite show?  Lounging by the fireplace with a good book?  Enjoying a video game with your friends?

That's really recreation, not relaxation and there is a difference between them.   Being able to relax means that you decide that it is time to let your body rest and put your mind at ease.

No physical work to do, no thoughts about what to do tomorrow or the next day or what happened in the past.  Your body would become at rest and your mind as well.

How to Relax

Begin by finding a private room or area where no one can disturb you for a short time.  Close the blinds, drapes, doors or windows, turn off your stereo, television or computer and lower the lights.

Why?  Because outside sources may distract you and the fewer there are the easier it will be to become relaxed.  Find a comfortable chair, sofa or couch and recline in it in a way so that your body is comfortable.

You can and should listen to some relaxing music but leave the volume low and it should be soothing to you.  Slow classical music or the sounds of nature are excellent choices.  If there are still outside noises use headphones to muffle them.

Close your eyes and take several deep breaths in order to fully relax your body.  With each breath you exhale, imagine that any stress or tension in your body is being released.  Keep breathing in a slow and regular manner for a few minutes.

Move through each part of your body starting with your toes, then your legs and move upward.  Tell each part of your body that it's time to let go and relax.  Tense each muscle area and then let it relax to feel the difference.  Continue doing this until you reach your head and then tell yourself that you have decided to relax your mind also.

There may be many thoughts entering your mind about what happened to you today, yesterday or what may happen tomorrow.  Let them go by thinking that you are too busy relaxing right now and will deal with them later.  Consciously decide that you this is your time to relax and turn them away.

The more you practice learning to relax the easier it becomes.  Once you become skilled at relaxing you will be able to enter this state almost at will

Relaxing is truly important to your success and you can learn how with practice.  You don't have to wait to learn, just do it now.  The more relaxed you become...

the easier you success will come.
