What Types of Goals Are There?
"If There Was a Success Department
Store, What Aisles Would You Look Through First?"
You've heard it before many times. The same question, "What Do
You Want? Your success may involve having more
money, fewer bills, a better job, a new car, a dream home, rewarding
relationships, improved health and many other ways.
There are four different types of
goals you may have, as shown in the diagram below.

You can choose your goals from any or
all of these areas, it's completely up to you. Once you have
your list you should think carefully about each item and whether it
could be related to another goal.
Related Goals and Dependencies
It may not always be clear how your
goals are related but sometimes one can be dependent on another.
Here are some examples of goal dependencies.
If one of your goals was to have more
money to buy anything you wanted, what would you buy? If it was
a new car or home they are related because you would be using that
money to buy them.
You can choose a general goal of
money but if you really know what is that you would do with it then
write that down as a goal. The clearer you can describe that car
or house you want the easier it will be to get it.
If it is truly money that you seek,
how much would it be and would you want it as a lump sum or as a
regular income? This could be related to a goal of having your
own business or getting a better job. How much would you want to
make from either each month?
If you wanted better relationships in
your life involving marriage, friends or business, would there be any
characteristics about yourself that could be related? The way
you appear or how you act towards others perhaps?
If you wanted a better job, what type
of job would it be and would you need certain skills or abilities to
do it properly? Would you need to be certified in some area or
obtain a license?
Selecting the right goals is
important to your success, so when you do...
choose success
and choose wisely.
